About the Festival
Traces of Istrian identity are hidden in the churches which were once all on the border between elite and popular art. One of Istrian identities has been discovered within its sacred architecture.
In the last 15 years the precious organs hidden throughout the Istrian peninsula have been revitalised thanks to the Organum Histriae Festival and three editions of the Andrea Antico da Montona Organ Competition. THE INTERNATIONAL ORGANUM HISTRIAE FESTIVAL and THE INTERNATIONAL ORGAN COMPETITION ANDREA ANTICO DA MONTONA are part of a long term intersectorial project founded in 1998 focused on the conservation, reconstruction and revitalisation of the organs and organ music in Istria.
Each year, pursuing the path of Istrian organs, the Festival takes place in different locations, beautiful sacred venues where the antique and precious instruments were built. Umag, Pula, Buje, Motovun, Završje, St. Peter in the Woods are only a few of our most important musical stops.
